🌱Planting Guide for Ranunculus (Persian Buttercup) Bulbs

Step 1 – Cold Moist Stratification
Place the corms (bulbs) into moist sand. Spray with water until excess drains from the bottom – do not allow standing water. Cover the container with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 7 days. This allows the corms to slowly absorb water and swell fully before planting.

Step 2 – Pre-Planting Inspection
After chilling, check each corm for softness. Trim away any dead or rotting roots. For any rotten spots, carefully scoop out all affected tissue, then soak the corms in a fungicide solution (e.g., carbendazim) for disinfection. Air-dry them in a cool, ventilated place before planting. Prepare your pot, soil, trowel, and watering tools in advance.

Step 3 – Potting
Use a pot about 18 cm (7 inches) in diameter – it can hold 3–5 corms. Add a layer of growing medium to the pot, place the corms on top, then cover with 3–5 cm (1.2–2 inches) of soil.

Step 4 – Watering
Water thoroughly right after planting. Afterwards, follow the "dry-wet cycle" – water only when the topsoil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as excess moisture will cause the bulbs to rot.

Step 5 – Post-Planting Care
Place the pot in a well-ventilated area with bright, indirect light to encourage root development. After about two weeks, when shoots and leaves emerge, gradually move the plant to a full-sun location for optimal growth.
